OVERVIEW
Learn about Gaudí’s life and mind, his way of working, the techniques that made possible his amazing designs absolutely revolutionary a hundred years ago, who lived in these unique houses he designed and what people at that time thought about his works. Combining the two great projects of Gaudí with the most magical, romantic and beautiful house in Barcelona is a wonderful visit difficult to forget. Do not miss this opportunity to visit three masterpieces very different from each other but with common elements such as love and imitation of nature, the fantasy of medieval romanticism and the innovation of unique architectural elements that define a universal genius as Gaudí.
ITINERARY
You will be picked up at your hotel in Barcelona to start your tour in Passeig de Gracia. It is one of the most prestigious avenues and the second most expensive street in Spain. Emblematic and beautiful, it houses some of the main symbols of Catalan modernism and Noucentisme. It has numerous beautiful buildings by architects such as Gaudí and his Casa Batllo or La Pedrera, Puig i Cadafalch and his Casa Amatller, or Domènech i Montaner and his Casa LLeo Morera.
Casa Batlló is a UNESCO World Heritage site and an icon in Barcelona, a must see for those who want to discover Gaudí’s work and modernism at its finest. One of the greatest exponents worldwide, a work inspired by the Mediterranean Sea, made in the fullness of the artist and with total creative freedom.
Next, we visit the Park Güell, UNESCO world heritage site, an unfinished project, commissioned this time by his best friend and patron Eusebi Güell. They together created their world famous park purely for pleasure. Although it never became the planned community that it was meant to be, but it’s now the most fairy-taleish park in Barcelona. You’ll be fascinated by the colors of its mosaic tiles, and you’ll also enjoy great views over Barcelona.
After the visit of Park Guell and free time we will continue to the breathtaking Sagrada Familia, his absolute masterpiece. Take your time admiring the stunning interior and exterior of this remarkable building, a must do highlight of any trip to Barcelona. The unfinished temple is a synthesis of its global conception of architecture. The richness of details, the work system and its meaning it is necessary to explain carefully in order to appreciate and understand this fascinating and extraordinary building in its entirety.
Throughout the tour, we will visit a complete sample of Gaudi’s works – unique, artistic and valuable buildings that have received recognition as UNESCO world heritage sites.
“My client is in no hurry”. Antoni Gaudí believed that God had all the time in the world, so there was no need to rush the completion of the Catalan architect’s most ambitious work, the Sagrada Família.

- The entrance to the bell tower of the Sagrada Familia is not included in the tour.
*Our tours only include the towers upon request. You need to know that:
It is not possible anymore to just climb the stairs: the way up is now only possible by elevator. However, the number of tickets available is restricted to just a few every hour, for an extra fee.
If there is availability, you are given a specific time to get in the line for the elevator, and after a several minute wait you finally get in the elevator that takes you to almost the top of the towers. From there you must walk down: it is not permitted to use the elevator to go down anymore. The whole process takes almost one hour. (the way down is narrow and occasionally claustrophobic, and it is definitely not for people scared of heights).
WHAT WILL YOU SEE
Casa Batlló sits in Passeig de Gràcia, a couple of blocks from La Pedrera also from Gaudi. It was finished in 1906. The view from outside is surprising (under historic renovation) but especialy its interior will amaze you. This large impressionist painting is sometimes seen as the surface of the undulating sea in the middle of Passeig de Gràcia. An explosion of creative freedom where there is no lack, either, of Gaudí’s effort to make a functional and modern house has been set to make the visitor feel in the ocean, surrounded by seaweed, fish, bubbles. A whole unic experience!
Park Güell is nowadays a public park but it was supposed to be a private residential area where Gaudí built the road, the main square, market square, entrance and gate buildings. His designs in the park are fairy-tale looking, amazing shapes and colours. From the Park there are great views over the city and the Mediterranean sea.
Sagrada Familia Gaudí abandoned the Park Güell project and everything else, to dedicate himself body and soul to his masterpiece. The Sagrada Familia is a masterpiece, without comparison. The unfinished temple is a synthesis of its global conception of architecture. The richness of details, the work system and its meaning it is necessary to explain carefully in order to appreciate and understand this fascinating and extraordinary building in its entirety. The architectural complexity, the use of innovative materials, the brightness of its stained glass windows and the interior space leave you speechless. Our visit will end if you wish in Sagrada Familia to live an experience of free time with all the necessary knowledge you will never forget.
