Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi worked on the Sagrada Familia from 1883 until his death in 1926. The unique style of this wonderful artist can be seen throughout the many pieces of architecture Gaudi worked on in Barcelona.
As Gaudí said: “The light that achieves the maximum harmony is the one that has an inclination of 45°, because it affects the bodies in a way that is neither horizontal nor vertical. It is the one that can be considered medium light and gives the most perfect vision of the bodies and their most exquisite nuance. It is the light of the Mediterranean”.
“My client is in no hurry”. Antoni Gaudí believed that God had all the time in the world, so there was no need to rush the completion of the Catalan architect’s most ambitious work, the Sagrada Familia.
ADDITIONAL INFO
- Follow the dress code if you are visiting the Sagrada Familia or any other Catholic church. Avoid clothing that exposes a large amount of skin. Wear shorts and skirts that go down at least mid-thigh.
- Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended as there is some walking involved.
- If you have reduced mobility, please contact us before booking. We do our best to welcome everyone on board!
- Our tours only include the towers upon request. You need to know that:It is not possible anymore to just climb the stairs: the way up is now only possible by elevator. However, the number of tickets available is restricted to just a few every hour, for an extra fee.If there is availability, you are given a specific time to get in the line for the elevator, and after a several minute wait you finally get in the elevator that takes you to almost the top of the towers. From there you must walk down: it is not permitted to use the elevator to go down anymore. The whole process takes almost one hour. (the way down is narrow and occasionally claustrophobic, and it is definitely not for people scared of heights).
